About Me

Geoff 1

A few years ago I was to embark on an extension and up to that time I had always been able to do all my electrical work myself. I thought.  “Why should I now pay for some ‘Sparky’ to come in and charge the earth for a job I could easily do myself?”

At the same time the business I had successfully run for many years was to be taken over by the franchise owner and therefore I felt I needed to try something completely different!

I therefore decided that it would a good idea to obtain the qualifications required, so I could carry on doing electrical work (Little did I know of the challenge ahead!). After attending a one years full time course at South Devon College and successfully passing the City and Guilds 2330 Level 2 in Electrical Installation and a further year as a part time student and working with a number of electricians I achieved my City and Guilds 2330 level 3 in Electrical Installation. These qualifications enable me to self certify and test my own work to be compliant to part P of the building regulations.

After studying, to learn a trade from some ‘old hands’ paying money out for courses exams and many special tools I realise I was not paying an electrician the ‘earth’ but paying for the knowledge, experience and equipment required to carry out a competent and safe task.
